RROAPS/RRADS | Description
RROAPS/RRADS. An evening of short, original one-act plays is the subject of Raider Red’s One-Act play Spectacular intermingled with original dance works (Raider Red’s Awesome Dance Spectacular) by Texas Tech University student playwrights and choreographers.
“Texas Tech also trains its students to learn to analyze theater by producing it. This serves not only our students, but our entire academic community since plays can be submitted by anyone on campus” says Mark Charney, Director of the School of Theatre and Dance at Texas Tech University.
This years RROAPS/RRADS was unique in that choreographers were tasked with creating five “reactions” to the RROAPS plays that been selected in the Fall semester. This created an interesting relationship between the plays and dances and allowed for more collaboration and discoveries between the choreographers, directors, and playwrights.
In total, there were 85 individuals involved in the creative process and over 500 people that witnessed the 10 new works.
Alec Lee Williams was the producer for RROAPS/RRADS.
